New Meta Quartet

The New Meta Quartet is a saxophone quartet based in Singapore, consisting of members Tan Yun Qu, Johann Koh, Luo Tianze and Danielle Ong. As graduates from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, we are now full-time professionals involved the local and international music scene - spanning across countries such us Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and the United States of America.

We are dedicated to performing and promoting saxophone repertoire that is accessible to all audience demographics, looking to expand the public’s knowledge and exposure towards saxophone quartet / chamber music!

Here are some recordings we have made over the years of playing and performing together. They span across a variety of genres, such as standard saxophone quartet repertoire, string transcriptions and jazz.

One of our most memorable performances together at the Singapore Saxophone Symposium 2023! This piece was super exciting and we were feeling lots of great energy playing together.

Global Saxophone Consortium!

In 2020, New Meta Quartet collaborated with renowned Singaporean composer Dr. Zechariah Goh Toh Chai to start a Global Saxophone Consortium -commissioning a work for solo alto saxophone and piano. The piece, titled ‘Oriri ex Cinere’, translates to ‘rising from the ashes’ - having been composed post-COVID 19 pandemic as a representation of artists’ and music’s triumph and resurgence from a seemingly bleak outcome.
